Cant join a server after updating to patch 1.12

Ok heres the problem im having, I installed h&d2 and played on multiplayer for a bit (without updating) but saw that not many servers were not available to me since I had not updated, but I was able to join some. So I updated, but no patch had an affect on the servers until patch 1.12 (yes I installed the correct patch [the large one]), which added a whole new interface and servers that I could not join before, were now selectable.

This was good except now I cannot join them, when I click on any of them (tried em all) it shows the creating client box, but never connects and eventually  says "could not connect" and "read the readme". The readme does not say anything about multiplayer servers or patch affects so I dont know what the issue is.

I then reinstalled h&d2 and was able to join servers as long as I did not update to patch 1.12. I want to be able to join these servers but I cannot with patch 1.12. I have another copy of h&d2 which works fine with patch 1.12 on a different computer and the only difference between the two computers is the one that doesnt work with patch 1.12 is running win2k. Could patch 1.12 be incapatible with win2k? any ideas would be great!

Is it probably a port/firewall issue. So I take it that you are running on windows 2000, not XP or Vista?

As Jason says it might be a FW/router problem. Also most of the maps are modded or SS maps which you wont be able to connect to if you dont have them.
Try bypassing your router & disabling your FW for a few minutes & try to connect to a server. IME HnD2 (& Mafia) dont always install correctly, i just had a problem a few days ago which i/we couldnt fix so i did a full clean reinstall & the problem disappeared.

Yes, Im running windows 2000 and It isnt a router issue because I can play online as long as I dont update to patch 1.12. I reinstalled to the same problem. No one else has had issues relating to win2000?

Can it be that you can´t connect to the servers cause you are runing hd2 1.12 and the servers are runing hd2ss 1.12?

I have ruled that out as the problem as well because my other computer does not have ss and it can connect to some of them. This is really annoying that there is just no explaination as to why there is even a probable cause to the problem. Looks like im not gonna be able to use patch 1.12... 

Does anyone here run win2k?

Now, out of no where, I did nothing... it works, maybe there was something wrong with my internet on this computer during those last attempts? thanks for the input anyway.
