Just wondering if anyone else has come across this one yet as its recent release seems to have slipped under the radar
http://www.deathtospies-thegame.com/
There is a basic lock picking puzzle to get into the site. Then head for the Generals Office and the Safe to grab the demo download which is 321mb in size.
Looks like a blatant H&D rip off in places to me although all covert missions are lone wolf style and there is no real strategy view unless you count the map HUD graphics. You can choose your weapons etc for each mission and the stealth aspect is uppermost unless you like getting gunned down quickly by trying to rambo a mission. Graphics generally are on a par with H&D.
Full game only seems to be available as a download at the moment on gamersgate

I'm quite enjoying the demo playing on the Hard level - there is also an EXtreme level which must be hellish. Great to have another WWII covert operations type game to try out again

Looks interesting. As you say, very like H&D in places (which is not bad)
I'll give the demo a blast.

So how is everyone getting on with the game ? I must say I am really enjoying it

It can be extremely difficult to do a clean mission using just stealth and get the top rating. The missions are sufficiently varied to make it interesting although every mission does pretty much rely on you swapping uniforms with one of the highest ranking officers somewhere in the mission. Because the gameplay is firmly aimed at stealth and you get penalised for making noise there are very few opportunities to use weapons other than the ones recommended for each mission, which can get a bit tedious when more interesting noisy weapons are found in the mission.
I quite like some of the problems that have to be sorted out on the fly, particularly where you need to picklock a door that is surrounded by enemy who may see your activity, or bumping some guy off who is heavily guarded. Waiting till the chef enters the freezer and locking him in plus poisoning one of the commanders with his favourite drink were two of the most satisfying moments so far

Been playing the demo and it's not bad at all. I like the stealth, it's better than rushing round like a mad thing shooting everything in sight.

Topic continued from General Discussion
During playing the game I was confused as to HOW I should be playing but an interview I read with the project leader said you can play however you want:
The following was taken from: Death to Spies: Haggard Games Interview @ Gaming Target
GT: Please give us a brief rundown of Death to Spies core gameplay mechanics.
Alexei Agalamov: The gameplay is something in between Commandos and Hitman with the third-person view. Player has a map with visibility range of every enemy which allows to play the role of a diversionist. But one can always find uniform and begin to play as a spy moving step by step to achieve his aim. There are no limitations in the ways of fulfilling mission goals. For example, in one of the missions players have to eliminate an enemy officer. To do that one has to either find a sniper rifle and kill the enemy from a distance or steal enemy uniform, get to the headquarters and set up a trap, or one can simply drive a truck to the balcony, climb to the building and eliminate everybody inside.
I recommend this game to ALL H&D players. I have not felt this way about a game in a while
Trust me, it will give you that boost you need through the first half of 2009. The expansion is on its way and rumours of a full sequel too.

I'd forgotten about this.
Giving it another go and it's bloody hard. Very enjoyable though.

I'm battling away with this but it's really hard.
I'm stuck on the roof top with guards running everywhere trying to find me. they never come up here unless I make myself known then they throw grenades.
How do I get the documents?

are you playing the demo?
It is much like Commandos with the "waiting for the right time" to strike. You have to get the key from the general dude that walks around - he flashes red on the map (tab to toggle map on) also, V is sneak mode.

This'll be a challenge.
I'll give it a go tomorrow.

Something I found on ebay:
Just waiting to find a H&D 1 or H&D 2 shirt... Lars has a H&D2 poster I think he should surrender to me
Waiting on Death to Spies, Moment of Truth addon. I will run a Death to Spies competition soon, just need the cash and 5 copies to give away.
