I am curious, ever have a tank fire one or two rounds at you, and then simply stop shooting at you, or even tracking you?

Yes. This happened when the tank turret wasn't set for full 360 degree traverse (to be more precise 180 degrees left and 180 degrees right) - just like the Tiger from the Prague 1 mission. This was made for purpose, otherwise the Tiger could blow up itself with the blast of the shell explosion from its own cannon (stupid AI). I set the maximum angle of deviation for the Tiger cannon in Prague 1 mission to 45 degrees left and 45 degrees right. Keep in mind, that the Tiger partially entered the building, so the turret movements should be limited.

Hmm, sadly, Germany 5 won't let me save a screenshot, but the tank chasing you oftentimes stops shooting after firing his main gun once or twice.

I stand in front of him and all he does is run me over.

Strange. I will look into it. Maybe the Tiger gunner behavior need to be changed.

OK, i updated the Germany 5 mission once again. thup01

Beside already implemented changes i changed the gunner behavior and statistics from the "chasing" Tiger.

However, keep in mind, that the Tiger's driver has an order to drive to certain place at the camp and he won't stop the tank unless he get there (or the tank get destroyed). So, don't be surprised if the tank run over your men.

As a result of continuous movement, the Tiger's gunner won't have enough time to aim and shoot at the player and his squad sometimes.

So, as the tank is on the move, the accuracy of its shots could vary.

After each shot, the Tiger's cannon need to be reloaded and this will take few seconds (i set 3 seconds for the chasing Tiger's cannon). The gunner's reaction is also taken into account and has an impact on the shooting speed (i set the gunner's reaction value to 100%).

In addition, the tank cannon barrel could only move up and down 15 degrees, so if you get close enough to the Tiger you are safe.

Don't forget, that the AI in H&D Deluxe has also its limitations.

Please download and test this mission.

Yay! The gunner now does his job properly. thup01 Keep shooting until the enemy is blown to bits.

That does remind me; don't you miss how in the classic game, you really could be blown apart?

Hmm, I suddenly wonder, Germany 2, where is that German with the green-backpack uniform, armed with the Stg-43? You see him in the Germany 2 picture. ;)

Germany campaign is in 1943, and as you can see, the Stg 43 and Stg 44 are 99% identical.

Thank you for the link. thup01

Well, i didn't know that the Stg 44 (MP 44) entered service prior to 1944 year, known as a Stg 43 (MP 43).

However, according to your source it firstly saw action on the Eastern Front in 1943 (mainland Germany is not considered a part of it in 1943).

I heard, that MP 44 was used during the German offensive in Ardennes known as "Battle of the Bulge". I saw few German soldiers carrying it, on original camera footage from that time.

So, it would be more realistic to have MP 44 available in H&D Deluxe only in German (Peenemunde was a weapon testing ground), Czechoslovakian, Poland, Ardennes and maybe Greek (as a captured weapon) campaigns.

However, in the German campaign i would restrict the use of MP 43 only to Germany 3, 4, 5 and 6 missions for enemy soldiers.

Maybe Steiner has an elite SS guard, and the SS had weapon privileges, including first access to advanced weapons, like the Mp43 prototype, and it's famous descendent, the MP44.
The green-backpack uniform, you can see the SS logo on the helmet.

EDIT: Maybe that's the secretary's personal guard. All the secretary would need is the uniform that has the swastika armband.

Maybe you are right.

What about the Germany 1 mission, where we attack the Abwehr (German military intelligence) headquarters?

According to you, the German guards should be armed with MP 43 or not?

Nah, as this is just intelligence, and as you pointed out, it's in Germany, though I know not where, as "Abwehr" simply means intelligence. :-?

I think these are simple Wehrmacht, and they deal in prisoner interrogation, not top-secret weapon research, so I don't think there is a need.

Thanks for asking. thup01

Well, the Germany 1 mission takes place in "Geluwedorf" (according to the mission description) - i personally never heard about such place. However, that doesn't mean that Geluwedorf is not a real place.

I visited Germany few times, but i know better the western Germany, since i have family there (Nordrhein-Westphalia near the German-Netherlands border). The Germans had the famous "Krupp" weapon factory in Essen - some of the buildings remained to this day (Essen was heavily bombarded by Allied bombers during WWII).

By the way: did you finally play my add-on "The road to Mandalay"?

I also finally fixed the problem with the new Crusader MK I tank - now it is fully usable.

LOL, I just Googled "Geluwedorf", and literally, the only reference it can find is the video game. Otherwise, Google has no idea what it is.

Sadly, I forgot the mission.
I was distracted recently by a game I thought I lost. I bought an old disc of a game I never played before, and lost it before I could play it, a year or more ago, and I found it again yesterday.

Well, i suspect that the real Abwehr headquarters was located in Berlin.

There was a famous Russian TV series from the seventies called "17 glimpses of Spring" (at least in Polish translation). A Russian secret agent Stirlitz infiltrated the Abwehr headquarters in Berlin. The action took place in April 1945. We have in Poland many jokes about this agent and his extraordinary performance, lol.
