multiplayer searching probs

hey my first post :D how u all doin? 8)

just got h&d2 with the expansion pack (together called courage under fire) from ebay recently for only 8 pound, pretty cheap eh?

tried to go on multiplayer but when i click update (or refresh, cant remember) to get the servers up my computer becomes unresponsive, it does this every time i try to update.

is there any patches for this problem? wat do i do?

Eyup, welcome to the forum.

It's update you should be clicking, refreshing takes ages and just, well, refreshes your info on servers you've already found. It's basically useless, just use the update button.

I get the same problem as you every now and again. Usually it works properly after a little bit. When it's taking ages to respond when updating, I press cancel when it lets me, close the game, re-launch it and try again. That works for me.

But is it just the game that becomes unresponsive or your computer? For me when it does that it eventually recovers, and though it doesn't load the server list, you can press the cancel button. If it's locking your PC up or if you have to Ctrl+Alt+Del close H&D then it's probably something different. You can try deleting your 'ServerList.bin' file in your Profiles folder in H&D.

when i click it (update button) the game becomes unresponsive and i cant get off it, but my computer seems like it hasnt froze, if i press control-alt-del the pointer changes to the egg timer for like a second then changes back to the pointer. Like the comp hasnt stopped, just the game. Its bloody annoying.

Do you need Gamespy or can you just play online w/o it? Do most ppl use it anyway?

what about firewalls? i remember having problems getting on bf2 when i got that, found out that it was the firewall stopping me login 2 my account, maybe

What firewall are you using? This will be your firewall blocking HnD2. Set it to allow HnD2 to act as a server, also & open ports 11001-11004.
When ZA loses it's configs (which it does every now & again for some reason beyond my knowledge :x ) & i have not set ZA to allow HnD2 access to the net, i have a lot of trouble trying to alt'n'tab to get to the desktop or even to get my mouse to work on the desktop & usually end up just switching the PC off.
