Kalingrad and Koenigsberg, do they mean the same thing?
Well, it is the same city.

However in German it means "The King's Mountain".

Google Translate definition of the name "Kaliningrad":

"a port on the Baltic coast of eastern Europe, capital of the Russian region of Kaliningrad; population 421,700 (est. 2008). It was known by its German name of Königsberg until 1946 when it was ceded to the former Soviet Union under the Potsdam Agreement and renamed in honor of Kalinin. Its port is ice-free all year round and is an important naval base for the Russian fleet."
I wonder how the local residents felt at the sudden radical change of nationality.
Well, as far as i know many of them were actually killed during the Red Army offensive along the Baltic Sea coast. The Russian planes attacked columns of retreating civilians from Eastern Prussia.

A Russian submarine even sunk a civilian ship full of refugees: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MV_Wilhelm_Gustloff.

The remaining local residents probably were deported somewhere else - i think that into the terrain known today as "Bundesrepublik Deutschland" (simply speaking Germany).

This was a "common post-war procedure" - some terrains previously belonged to Third Reich were incorporated to Soviet Union and Poland.

In the other hand Polish citizens from Eastern Poland (today Belarus, Ukraine and Lithuania) were also forced to abandon their homes, because those lands were incorporated into Soviet Union (as republics) till the collapse of the Eastern Block.

You could compare the Polish borders in 1939 year with those actual and notice many differences (the maps that i uploaded earlier).

Yes and today Prussia is colonized by extreme poor russians. I think the only reason why they still have it is the good naval base and the strategic point in europe. Also the former german cancellor rejected an offer from to russians to give the land back.
The today poland is even smaller than the one it was before 1939

Few years ago i was on a trip in the land previously known as "Eastern Prussia" (part of it that now belongs to Poland).

There are many old bridges, houses and castles left from the times when Germans lived there for centuries.

I always take 4 men on the Poland 1 mission, and normally the 4th man drops dead at the end of the mission, but I keep him alive by driving the jeep alongside the plane.
Very funny idea

Should look like this?

Wow. The Russians wanted to give something back instead of taking away? I never heard about that, must be a Christmas miracle, LOL. funny02

I wonder, who proposed that the "Калининградская область" will be given to Germans back? Ex Russian president Jelcyn or someone else?

I don't expect that the actual Russian president Putin made such proposal (he is a former KGB agent and has a nostalgia about the "good, old communistic times" when the Russia was one of the two world superpowers).

One of the Russian politicians some time ago proposed our Polish government to divide Ukraine between Russian Federation and Poland. However this guy is well known of his "specific views" and treated as "harmless clown".

Better to not spread this info among Ukrainians, because they don't like Poles too much...

Gorbatschow and Jelcyn wanted to "sell" it back in the early 90s. There was a offer about 70 billion DM.
But there were too many problems in the mind of the West German Government.
They didn't want to get trouble with USA, GB and France. Also they didn't want to resettle people to Prussia or integrate russians.
In my opinion they should have better made that deal, because now there will never be a chance again to get this land back.

Shocked:  Who would turn down an offer for land that was once yours? Germany really is run by apologetic wimps these days.

Even Germany is only 2/3 of the size it once was, while the wimp nation of France grew a little larger after the war.

EDIT: Oh, I see, it was attempt by the Russians to get a little cash for it's bankrupt state.

P.S. Be nice to Putin; he's one of the few masculine male politicians left. And yes, you meant "politicians", not "politics" when you refer to people.

Well, as NilsZ actually live in Germany he wrote later that this happened in the early 90'. The overall political situation in Europe was unstable.

Having a piece of land surrounded by other countries like Poland and Lithuania not connected directly to Germany (the same situation was before the outbreak of WWII and this was one of the reasons for Hitler to attack Poland, because Polish government back in 1939 refused to connect this terrain with Third Reich using a highway).

The Germany was unifying again after many years of division and the German government had probably more serious problems to solve (like the financial differences between the former East and West Germany - still unsolved to this day).

No offense, but as always Americans knows nothing about European history, LOL.

Insulting other nations is also not very kind.

The France and Germany are one of the most important countries in the Europe, not matter who "rule" them at this time.

Yeah. Maybe he needs to be like that to rule such big country like Russia, but that doesn't mean that i like him...

Maybe i should be nice to him also because of his huge army - a better argument...

I have nothing against Russian people in general.

There were some presidents and even First Secretaries of USSR with i have no problem (like Gorbatschow was mostly seen by Poles as a good leader of the USSR during a difficult period in post WWII history). I had nothing against Jelcyn while he was a Russian president.

By the way small people in human history were always sort of strange, LOL. funny02

No, no.

The 4th man dies if he is not really close to the plane when it takes off. And I keep him close by taking advantage of the Kubelwagen's incredible speed.

And then I pretend he managed to jump off the jeep and into the bomb storage underneath; an awesome scene.

What did I say that was inaccurate?
Russia was bankrupt, it needed money.

Your mention of a reunited Germany having financial issues was more the reason why the deal never passed. And yes, much of East Berlin to this day are the crummy apartments the Soviet government built while the West is a paradise in comparison.

You two fellows should watch this hilarious Cold War comedy of an American Coca-Cola businessman stationed in West Berlin.

Part 1: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5pa1ai
Part 2: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5pa2so

Here it is dubbed: https://videa.hu/videok/film-animacio/e ... Vho6K1w6X6
What is the language? It sounds really familiar, but I can't recognize the writing.

It is in Hungarian language. Abbreviation "hu" in a website adress means that this is a Hungarian website.
