Do you think the Romanian gendarmes are so nasty that they would force any captured partisans to "run away" through the minefields while having MG shooting at them from behind?

If those partisans were communist ones (like Tito partisans were) - i wouldn't be surprised, if the Romanian gendarmes dealt with them in the way that you described. Many atrocities have been committed on the Eastern Front during WWII. Slavic people were treated as subhumans (Untermenschen) by Nazis - especially communists. However, that doesn't mean that the communists (Red Army in particular) were saints. They also committed many crimes like raping women during their "liberation" or executing POWs. WWII in general (in Europe and Asia) was full of crimes and bestiality.
Indeed, the cruelties, and tyrannies of both sides make the Eastern Front (aka The Great Patriotic War) a badguy-vs-badguy conflict.

Anyway, the Danube 4 map, if you look directly west, you will see a nice open field to run through, with mines in it, and an MG to cover it all. Why not spawn 10-20 disarmed partisans near the trench, and have them all run as fast as they can to the western end of the map?

I am not planning any further Danube 4 mission changes. I added captured partisans weapons as you requested. It took me several hours to update the Danube 4 mission. In addition, i never promised you to put all your ideas into modified H&D Deluxe missions when we started our cooperation.

Ah man, I thought that would make an amusing Easter Egg, as the only other time I've heard of such a thing was in Far Cry 3.

Well, do what you want - i know that you don't like my H&D Deluxe add-ons, so you will not regret that you did not play it.

My only guilt is, that i am actually the only one, who is making new add-ons for H&D Deluxe, since other modders are long gone.

However, that doesn't mean that my add-ons are not good. I spend many hours (even days) to make each new add-on.

Almost nobody provided a feedback from playing my add-ons (which i made more than 50), so I do not consider myself distinguished. :-?

OK, i decided to make another update of the Danube 4 mission (hopefully the last one).

Beside already implemented changes i added 6 "captured" unarmed partisans, that will try to escape.

Of course, all of them will be killed either by MG fire or by anti-infantry mines. I must say, that the whole "prisoner releasing" scene is quite spectacular. The player has a chance to witness this whole scene from a distance (see pictures below), but won't be able to save those partisans. I placed a "detector" near the small wooden bridge, so when the player gets close (within 35 meters) - the whole "escaping sequence" will be triggered.

I hope, that you will appreciate that i fulfilled your request, because this is quite cruel.

I made this update only because i thought, that this would be some kind of Easter Egg (many old PC games had them).

I guess it's just lack of confidence in my part about handling multiple data files. I WILL try it. Please know that I DO like your stuff. Just, hang on. frown01

I hate to say that, but i was forced to update the Danube 4 mission once again, due to some small bugs that i found (at least in my H&D Deluxe).

Beside already implemented changes i made few new ones:

- fixed improper light casting on some objects inside bunkers,

- objects static collisions optimized,

- checkpoint grid more dense to improve the AI pathfinding ability (especially for enemies),

- fixed strange behavior of some enemy soldiers inside trenches,

- few enemy soldiers added to protect the flanks of MG nests,

- repositioned some trees to improve the player visibility,

- deleted unwanted static collisions,

- corrected the wrong position of the mission escape point.

Please download and test this mission.

Good night and see you tomorrow! sleep01

I definitely owe you an apology for taking so long to test this out.

Lol, I definitely wasn't expecting the increased defenses in addition to the prisoners getting executed psychopath-style.

Adding sandbags to most of the trench was both brilliant and realistic. I LOVE it.

I decided to make another update of the data.dta archive.

Beside already implemented changes i made all hand grenades in H&D Deluxe stronger against infantry. However, the hand grenades are still unable to blow up tanks and other heavy equipment (like armored railway cars).

In my previous data.dta archive version i made all hand grenades weaker - to get rid off the situation when they could actually blow up even a heavy tank.

Unfortunately, this change in grenade's power had some unwanted side effects that i noticed i.e. in the Danube 4 mission.

Some German soldiers in the trenches and inside bunkers were able to survive a very close blast of the hand grenade, which would be impossible in real life.

So, in this newest data.dta archive i increased all the hand grenades power from default 2200 to 5000.

Please download and test this newest data.dta archive version. Thank you in advance!

EDIT: I recently tested the updated hand grenades in my newest Danube 4 mission. Now the hand grenades have reasonable power in my opinion. However, test this for yourself. Maybe i overlooked something. There is always better, if two different people test the same thing. nods01
