Text missing in HD 2 and Sabre Squadron menus and subtitles

System specs are:
AMD Duron 900 MHZ
384MB Ram
128MB Nvidia 5500 FX

In the game menus, some of the selections dont show and in the game, the subtitles are incomplete..Overall there is a lot of text missing. I have updated my video drivers, then rolled them back..updated the game, and bought Sabre Squadron to see if that would fix it. The text is still missing. Anybody have any ideas about this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

What version of windows?

What language are you playing under?

Sounds like a corrupted Texty...

Did you have any problems on installing?

Was one of the CD?s damaged when you installed it?

My OS is XP Pro Service Pack 2....I had the German version of this game and when I installed, it never gave me a chance to choose english. I went into the registry and changed the language there...that worked fine and my menus were in english so I could see what I was doing...somewhat. There was missing text even with the german language selected and with english, those same menus and text are still missing. I tried also to change the texty files to Times New Roman and still no go. Hey Fellas, I really appreciate your response to my problem, but I must say that the HD2 that I installed was in fact a pirated copy. I do have a conscience, so I'm just going to buy the original HD2. I didn't want to buy it originally because it had no Co-Op...sucks. I was just hoping that there was a known issue with the text stuff and I was hoping that there was a quick fix. Thanks again for your help guys.

WEll usually pirated ones does not work properly.

Besides, buying H&D2 - Courage Under Fire which includes both original H&D2 and it?s expansion, Sabre Squadron, and Sabre Squadron has co-op that you can play, is rather cheap. I recall seeing this in local store with price of 30-35 euros, so I don?t suppose it is so high priced.

Especially since Lars and other people have been making, or converting, more co-op maps in Sabre Squadron, you can have loads of fun with your friends on LAN\etc.

So in other words, Sabre Squadron offers you the Sabre Squadron missions in coop, but here in forums, you can find more co-op maps to add in the game :)

I just bought the HD2 disk at Wal-Mart...uninstalled the old game, cleared it from the registry, deleted the HD2 folders that were left over..Reinstalled using the store bought copy and I still have the text issues. What the heck! I'm pretty sure that my install was totally clean because I wiped out all known traces of it after I uninstalled. Has anybody heard of this issue before? I Googled it and found another guy who had the same problem, but I didn't see a response to his question. This has to be more common than I previously thought.

Maybe my texty file is defaulting to an erroneous font. I dont know...
Could someone please explain the madness that haunts my computer and my dreams! Is this all just a bad nightmare? Do computers even exist? Do I have to die in my dream to finally wake up to the real world?
Maybe I just need Thermal Grease...Lots and lots of Thermal grease..yeah

Did you clean install SP2?

If not, theres your problem...

Uninstall SP2 and see if it works...

Or get a new English or English US Texty from sum1...

Yes, I did a clean install of SP2..That was one of the first things installed on a fresh install of my OS. Seems that uninstalling the service pack may open up a whole mess of other problems. I'm scared to do it and there's really nobody here to hold me, so I'd like to try something else if at all possible. God....? If you can hear me, can you please have somebody send me a known, clean texty file in the EnglishUS flavor to:

If you clean installed SP2, then dont uninstall it...

What grafix driver version are you running?

Are you installing the rite patch?

There are 2 1.12 patches...

This sounds pretty strange, but I have to ask:
Are you running a pirated copy of H&D2? I heard many reports that in pirated ones the texts are bugged.

I have no idea which one is the right patch....I just ran the "AutoPatching.exe" that is in the HD2 folder. I did have a pirated copy of HD2 in which I completely uninstalled it from my system and deleted all registry entries related to the game. I think that I completely removed it all. This is a fresh install of a store bought copy in which I now have HD2 and Sabre Squadron installed. As far as graphic drivers, I have 81.95 forceware installed now. I did roll back as far as 66.93 to test it on HD2, but no change was evident in HD2.[/b]

Some of the buttons in the menu dont have text...The buttons are there but with no text on some of them. I have to click the button to see what it actually does. In the game there are missing subtitles, so all I see is er
whe pre .....stuff like that. Just pieces of the sentences are there. It really sucks too when the game is loading up a mission, and the mission objectives cant be read because they are cut off and incomplete...Just like the rest of the text in the game..just like my brain

You are using an English version of HD2 and HD2SS now?

The most recent drivers wont be doing much for your 5500...

Download the patch here: http://hidden-and-dangerous.net/files/h ... ch1_12.zip...

You install HD2 then HD2SS then the patch...

If you still have the problem, try running it in windows compatibility mode for windows 98...
