Off topic but i just gotta say this.
I don't believe your not using a FIREWALL, you must be mad or VERY LUCKY. You seem quite intelligent but your not one of these folks that have the Messenger Service, Computer Browser Service, Remote Registry Service running etc. etc. etc.

CD KEY Error..?

Unread post by Romeo6 » Tue Aug 23, 2005 5:42 am

Actually, I run XP Pro with NO FIREWALL, NO SERVICE PACKS and all non-essential services disabled and stopped. Have run it like this for as long as I can remember. I have an antivirus and spyware program that I run regularly and I use firefox for browsing. Basically, I run it wide-open and have never really had any serious or fatal problems with it. However, every 3-4 months, I do a low-level format of the HDD and completely reinstall everything to keep things fresh and fast. Maybe I'm mad and lucky....but hey, if it works.....

CD KEY Error..?

Agreed !....Also, running streamlined like I do, for whatever reason gives me really low ping numbers when I host a game. I notice that of all the games listed in the browser, mine seems to be the only one that pings below 100....or below 50....actually, my server pings around 34 every time....odd when every other game in the list is pinging around 100-200....maybe that's why my server fills up as soon as I start it....that and I run the coop map-pack.....thank GOD and good job to the fellows that released that map-pack!!!...need more!!!! I want Burma mission 1 in coop.

Thanks Jason. That was the first thing I tried until I realized it is a fix for those using a firewall. I have no firewall....
