Help with dedicated server

Unread post by Killer Kane » Mon Feb 21, 2005 10:00 pm

I am running a dedicated internet HD2 SS server and people outside my home network can connect but people who are inside can not. Is there someway to fix this so I can run a dedicated game on one PC and play on another?

I tried all the router ports I have found but have not been able to join my dedicated server. If you have one working and can play on it on the same internal network, please let me know the ports you opened and anything else you might have done.

I use the Serverstarter exe for my dedicated.

Thanks in advance for any help that might come.

You should just open the ports 11001-11004 in the router..

They are the ports for the server..

I've also heard someone said something about the gamespy ports.

But i don't know anything about that.

Just be sure you have opened 11001-11004 and ofcourse all your firewall's

turned off. :)

Help with dedicated server

I have ports 11000 to 11015 open(or rather forwarded to my server) on the router, just to cover all. People can get into my server it is just that I or anyone playing on the internal net can not get to the server through the gamespy interface in HD2.

I will try to open the gamespy ports(27900 & 28900) also.

If I run a serve and play, server, I have no problems nor does anyone else on the internal net. Maybe I should just skip serverstarter.exe and start the game as usual then choose dedicated server in host options. Just hate the having to transfer the cd back and forth, with serverstarter.exe you don't need a cd.

Thanks for the reply. :)

The internetserver uses port 11001 lanservers uses port 12001.
Normaly it should work if you fill in the ip from the host. Have you tried that?

OK I have tried to just enter the IP to get to the HD2 DS from my game PC but it doesn't do anything. I also tried to start the game regularly switching CD to run the game on my PC and it wont allow me to join there either. I also DMZed the server and even then I can not join. I am missing something but I can not figure out what. I am going to do a read on my router and see if I overlooked something. I have a Linksys BEFW11S4 with Firmware Version: 1.50.14 if that helps at all.

Right now I have ports 11001-11014 forwarded to my HD server

I will try to open 12001 but am not sure that will allow me to connect via gamespy, worht a try though.

Thanks for all the help guys. I will keep on trying.

Got it working finally

Unread post by Killer Kane » Wed Feb 23, 2005 1:54 pm

Was nothing to do with ports so to speak. All I had to do then was enable the PPPoE passthrough option. That was it and I was sliding in like a 7.92 into a MP44!

Afterwards doing some testing of ports, I found that the only ports I had to have forwarded to connect were ports 11001-11004 and port 6073 all UDP. Some problems might pop up where I need others in the future but if they do, you all gave me lots of other ones to test.

Thanks for all the great replies and suggestions. Appreciate the time you took to read and respond. That is another reason why Illusion needs to get off their duffs and get some things going to keep HD2 alive, great fans!

Thanks again all :D
