3dS Max ASE? Does it work or how to put it into the map-editor?

3dS Max ASE? Does it work or how to put it into the map-editor?

Hi, cause I don´t have 3DS Max, I made a little map with 3D Gamestudio and saved it as 3DS Max ASE file

Does the editor allow those files? It´s only one file , named "landscape1.ase". I also renamed it to "landscape1.i3d", but when I open the editor, click shift+m (create model) and select it from the model directory, the editor doesn´t create it on the map. :?:
What can I do? Is there a tool where I can change ase-files into map-editor friendly files?

Sadly there are only im- and exporters for 3dsmax V 3.0 & 3.1 . Other programs didin´t work for hdd.

You can obtain 3d max 3.1 through the web. Or ebay.

We might be able to convert it for you, a few of us have 3d max.

mhh... I see. Well, I think that there´s nothing I can do but looking for 3DS Max 3.0

EDIT: What about "3D Studio Max 9" ? Does this Version work?

The plugins works ONLY with 3.0 & 3.1

I see, well... and what if someone of you (MAYBE) convert this file(s) for me? nods01
EDIT: I import those files and export it to a "3ds"-file. But the editor don´t accept 3ds files, right?

If you can convert the files to 3ds we could convert them for you. But not the fileformat ase cause there might be no importer for max.
HDD doesn´t accept 3ds files. The old version HD1 has worked with 3ds files. But for that is no editor out

I found out something very interesting: As said before, I convert my model from "ase" to "3ds". I put it into the missions/model direction (where all the models are stored). I loaded a map (the first mission) and then klicked on "Create...model". I klicked on my file and it was put into the level BUT only in grey with no textures frown01
Maybe I missed a step by converting it, but where should I save texture files belonging to the model?
