Yeah, no problem.
You can reload both weapons, in reality, firing them would not have any thing to do with reloading them though.
Of course for the G/K 43 the animation is there, you should be able to reload it, but they must have disabled it to make it a counterpart to the M1. The only problem here is, that in "reality," a rifleman would not have been carrying many extra magazines for it.
As for the M1, the animation is not there, as it is more complicated to eject the unspent ammunition, but it is not a lengthy procedure by any means, as long as you are dextrous.
For me I just don't reload the weapon in first person mode. 
They were following the popular belief among the uneducated that you cannot reload the M1 without first expending all ammunition.
