Death to Spies monitor problem

Unread post by Grimples » Wed Nov 02, 2011 4:13 pm

I get the "out of range" monitor problem, i have tried everything?. Could some one send me their smersh.shadvs please, it might work, or do you know a fix that aint on google. I did get a screen on one of my 12" CRT monitors but it was too small to see, i could never go back to using one of those again.

Tried:
deleting smersh.shadvs
all compatability mode variations
all monitor modes, lowest is 800x600
cannot use SmershSetup.exe as it uses .netframework (def no no)
err..

Bite the bullet, install the lowest possible version of framework, you can always wipe it clean later, maybe. funny01

I don't have a smersh.shadvs, I only have engine.shadvs for both DTS and DTS:MOT, which do you want/need?

@Vit: .netframework is just not an option, it dont work/wont install on my secure PC.

@Jason: I am just going from what i get from google, smersh.shadvs holds the settings but its in hex & i cannot understand it. Deleting the file does no good as the game just creates another default one. I could try the demo as the one i have is from err...

PC shops in the UK do not take back games anymore, i am now $14 out of pocket because of this new policy, never again. GTA IV is the culprit

(edit)
Demo is the same, monitor is 'out of range'.
