Battlefield 2 - Project reality (a mod)

Unread post by Zunami » Mon Feb 21, 2011 10:03 pm

Project reality is a mod for the BF2 game that completely changes the game.

As the name insinuates, this is an attempt to make a military simulation based on the war in Afghanistan and Iraq.
The game has much larger maps and is in general much harder.

It has been modded so much that most of the original battlefield 2 experience is no longer present.

As a coalition force trooper your objectives are many. Usually you must fight a militia, destroy weapon caches or other such relative realistic goals instead of the regular ongoing onslaught that is commonly seen in battlefield.

You will not survive on your own and you can no longer just take any vehicle you want. You must team up with a squad and follow them into battle using real military tactics (if you want to live).

Helicopter pilots are the only ones who can fly a helicopter and so on, so the freedom in the game has been impaired a lot

If you aren't playing as  a coalition force trooper, you are usually a terrorist or a member of a militia or the Iraqi military. The terrorist and militia offer a very interesting game play as they are usually very poorly armed, but sometimes can dress as civilians and thus if shot unprovoked by the enemy will actually contribute to their own side.
The terrorist and militia must use guerilla warfare and terrorism to defeat their enemy. Car and suicide bombs, IED's, mortar attacks, snipers and other tactics are very normal.

If you happen to have BF2 lying around, give this mod a look over, if you are into realistic war games that is. I am assuming that you are since you are on a HD2 forum :P
