service pac 2 windows XP

Unread post by gohokiez » Mon Jun 06, 2005 7:04 pm

Have deluxe disc. Game ran great until service pac 2 was downloaded. Now game will get hung up trying to load a game - usually hangs up while loading a saved game or after selection men and weapons for the mission and selecting the forward button. Will load up to about 65% then hangs up - frezzes. Will uninstalling service pac 2 correct this problem or is there another fix?
Thanks.

Windows Service packs are the DEVIL.

You never wanna install 1 after you are using your pc. You would need to uninstall everything on your computer then reinstall.

Best thing todo is reinstall windows starting clean if you want SP2.

Uninstalling SP2 should fix the problem tho.

Thanks for the replies.
Uninstalling SP2 did work.
I do not use the "safe" command - don't know what that is or what a register fix is??
I did try uninstalling the game and reinstalling it but it did not work.
Thanks again.

I think you run in to more trouble if you don't install the servicepack. Personally I have had no problems with XPSP2. You might need to update some drivers but thats it.

On the sidenote I would remind you all, that if you connect to internet with a Windows XP computer that has not the servicepacks & hotfixes installed, it takes about 5-10 minutes to get your computer full of viruses, troijan horses and other malicious software...even if you are not toughing the darn thing.

I concur hd de luxe runs fine even with the xp2 update
you might need a new reinstall of hd de luxe
but this no big prob

be sure to delete te lonelycat registere entry afte you uninstalled the game
after that you can simple reinstal
if you get a weird or invisible menu in hddeluxe
try to update the shortcut by putting the word safe in the commandline

like this

"C:\Program Files\Take2\Hidden and Dangerous Deluxe\bin\hde.exe" safe
