So, the Sherman Tank and Katyusha Rocket Truck went and had a baby together.

I am really pissed on, Myron.

Today, a guy from ModDB modding community told me, that my custom King Tiger tank model used in my H&D Deluxe Ultimate Mod has wrong textures assigned to it.

The problem is, that I imported it directly from the Bertgold 1.2 mod, instead of Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. That was a big mistake. no_02

I needed to re-texture the tank again using the original MOH: AA textures. I did the best i could, but still it is not perfect. I found out in 3ds max, that the Bertgold 1.2 author made a mess with the model. This is the last time when i took any custom model from Bertgold 1.2 mod. I don't want to edit the model from scratch, because i am not sure if it would be driveable again.

See pictures below.

I apologize for the confusion.

Strange... could I see a comparison?

This one looks the same as the last.

There are some minor differences like separate texture for hatch, etc. Hard to notice from a distance.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to give the tank's gun (including gun's mantlet and gun's muzzle brake) it's proper Medal of Honor: Allied Assault look (according to the file that the guy from ModDB sent me). He said, that the Bertgold 1.2 author probably mixed different King Tiger versions from that game by accident. However, it is impossible to properly re-texture the model it is current state.

See pictures below, to check how the MOH: AA King Tiger supposedly should look like. The turret on the intact original model has also markings in different place (not on top, but on the turret sides).

I am afraid, that i will need to edit the MOH: AA model once again or try to import the King Tiger model from Call of Duty: World at War.

Good news Myron! After some hard modding work, i managed to fix the problematic custom King Tiger model imported from Bertgold 1.2 mod. thup01

Now it looks exactly as it should - having proper Medal of Honor: Allied Assault style.

See pictures below.

I will still need to update the Prague 1 and Prague 2 missions, but this is a piece of cake. Stay tuned.

See the picture below with me staying with Sgt. Moody accompanied by Sherman tank in Call of Duty: United Offensive after well done job.

There is also a "Sherman taxi" version.

I implemented the exact same Sherman model into H&D Deluxe.

By the way, thanks Myron for sharing the video made by squire - it was really funny. thup01

I imported custom Panther tank models from Call of Duty: World at War into 3ds max.

The only problem, that i encountered so far is, that there is no destroyed Winter version available. I only found the intact Winter model. Hopefully, i will be able to give the destroyed Summer version a Winter look, but i cannot promise that.

See pictures below.

Ah yes, that Winter Model must be from the deleted British missions from the WaW game.

Meanwhile i re-textured the destroyed Panther Summer model from CoD: WaW to give it Winter look using original textures. Everything seems OK, except for the barrel texture. It is a pity, that the CoD: WaW developers didn't make also the destroyed Panther Winter model. Maybe i will manage to improve the look of the destroyed Winter Panther's gun.

Thanks to MCh2207Cz from the ModDB community, i managed to re-texture the original King Tiger tank model imported from Medal of Honor: Allied Assault using his custom Winter textures. I plan to add this tank into the Ardenes 2 mission.

See pictures below.

Oooh, nice. Now the Tiger Royal can blend in among the snowy trees. Pity that they can't smash down trees in this game.

Thanks for the feedback Myron! thup01

I remember, that in Call of Duty, the Russian T-34 tanks could smash down trees. However, i don't know if that was simply scripted or not.

By the way, i found an interesting video about the King Tiger tank on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QuDuBwAhRa4

Maybe one day i will visit the Bovington Tank Museum. Who knows. I was once in England in February 2007 with high school trip. However, we visited London and nearby area. I will never forget about crossing the English Channel by car ferry and the bad weather during the cruise. I could imagine what the Allied soldiers felt being inside landing crafts during D-Day on 6th June 1944, lol. Anyway, we departed from Calais to Dover, so we had a different route.

Yeah, I've never been outside the North American continent, sadly.

As for CoD, I never played any of them older than CoD4.

I was imagining based on MoH how, say, a Tiger would ambush you from a destroyed building as you drove the T-34, by smashing through a building. Or in Company of Heroes 2, where a tank might standing still inside a forest, and then smash it's way out in a very theatrical ambush.

So, you should definetely check at least the first Call of Duty and its expansion United Offensive. I just finished US campaign in CoD: UO yeasterday - it was a hell of a fight on Veteran difficulty (without first aid kits). Both games have some epic missions to play. Actually i was in Bastogne few years ago en route to my aunt that live in Germany (she is a Pole) near the German-Netherlands border. Unfortunately, the Bastogne museum was closed when i arrived. I saw only a Sherman tank monument on the town square with numerous holes in it. That tank belonged to an unit that supported the 101st US Airborne Division. I think, that i still have the tank picture somewhere. On a side note, the countryside around Bastogne area is still forested. I imagine, why Allies back in WW2 thought that Ardenes region was not suitable for tanks operations...

I heard some time ago, that smashing a tree / building using a tank is not very clever and safe. You could damage the barrel and gun optics that way. The tank usually drove with turret turned back while outside combat. At least Russians did that with theirs T-34.
