I came across a funny bug when i added 2 partisans in the mountains on the other side of the river. I equipped them only with Lee enfield rifles 100 rounds each. When they run out of ammo they used Luger pistols instead, but i didn't give them this weapon! LOL!!!

So, that is all folks about the history of partisans in this game! Telling about MacGyver abilities...

Wow, you only slept for 5 hours?

Ah, so these partisans had the range of those on that Lost Canyon in Greece. And they seriously spent ALL that ammo? How many Germans did they kill?

I don't get the joke, sadly.

Those 2 partisans, that i added in the italy4 mission spent all their ammo, but they still fired with Luger pistols. I have no idea who gave them this weapon. They managed to kill one or two Germans. See pictures below.

So, after testing i decided to NOT add partisans into italy4 mission to avoid such stupid situations like i described above.

Wow, really lousy shots if they only killed one or two. What is the key to their range? In the canyon, they can see you a mile away. No German ever saw me that far away.

I think it was more about that I wasn't allowed to watch TV when I was young.

Sadly, I must sleep now, as I just got off night-security.

The AI range of fire is determined by a setting called minimal shot distance, that could be set manually in the HD editor.

Hello Myron,

i finished the editing of the italy4 mission. thup01

I optimized the enemy snipers that i added - now some of them will lay on the ground, others will crouch - making them less exposed and harder to spot by the player. :grin:

I also slightly modified the data.dta archive, to fix the bug with the Mauser K98 sniper rifle in stock H&D, that i accidentally introduced into the game. Previously, when enemy soldier pressed the trigger - instead of shooting only 1 bullet at a time (bolt-action rifle) he was able to shoot 5! This was caused by inappropriate setting for Mauser K98 sniper rifle, that i set in the inventry_1.tab. In the section "Fire mode" it should be set to "Single", but i choose "Batch". This probably explains your observation about Germans, that were reloading their bolt-action rifles way too fast - it is fixed now. Sorry for this. Unpack the data.rar archive into your H&D Deluxe data folder and overwrite the older version of data.dta archive.

If you are satisfied with the changes that i made in Italy4, please write the proposed changes for the 1st mission in the Yugoslavian campaign.

P.S. I hope, that you added the new textures for the PZ IV tank in your maps.dta archive.

Adding more lookouts... good thing thup01

Adding more "mountain rangers"* out patrolling about... good thing thup01

Removing the mechanics/repairmen/engineers**... bad thing no_03

Removing the vehicle operators***... I dunno :|

(They were called that in Yugoslavia 5 by the instructor)

(Hey, we need these men to work on the wreckage; salvaging and repairing)

***Germans with the grayish-greenish uniform without backpack
(The only thing that comes to my mind is that these were probably the men riding the train to the same destination as those tiger tanks.)

Naturally, the "mountain rangers" are there to fend off partisan attacks, as partisans blew up the bridge. Partisans should help us deal with the excess snipers, by being armed with sniper rifles themselves. Two should be enough, as a two man team could have set the charges that blew the bridge.

As i wrote earlier i will NOT add any partisans into the italy4 mission, because of the bug, that allows them to shot even with no ammo left in their weapons (but still somehow armed with Luger pistols). This seem to be a common H&D Deluxe bug, because now i remember that i noticed this in another mission. My friend said to me many years ago, that in the stock H&D 1, when the enemy run out of ammo they simply disappeared, lol.

I am using new custom uniforms for most German soldiers, so i haven't got "Germans with blue uniforms" in my game.

To repair the damaged train, the Germans would need a railway crane - i never encountered such vehicle in H&D Deluxe and i never saw a suitable model to download from the Internet. They could also use a kind of "repair barge" in real life.

So, i am not planning to further edit the italy4 mission, if those enemy snipers added by me work well.


Please write here any proposed changes for the Yugoslavia 1 mission. Thank you in advance!

I will not repeat myself again - i have limited time for H&D Deluxe modding. If you want a completely new set of campaigns, rather than just edited stock ones i will not help you. So, forget about adding or changing default mission objectives. Moreover, i won't add any new models, only the stock ones would be used.

Ah man, because while at work, I had remembered that in Germany 5, there are a bridge that could be placed in Italy 4. But if no more changes, Fine. :sad:

I guess the "mountain rangers", (Germans with green uniforms & backpacks), are just securing the place, while waiting for the salvage teams to arrive.

Anyway, you already have the awesome idea of increasing the patrols in Yugoslavia 1, and adding snipers in certain vantage points.

My only idea for a change would be adding a motorcycle or two, driving from one end of the road to the other.

Also, are the men who bail out of the plane in the cutscene wearing red berets?

About the idea of adding motorcycles to Yugoslavia 1: the main road is by default patrolled by 2 patrols - 2 men each, so a motorcycle will simply run over them, lol. The AI couldn't evade vehicles like real people could :grin: .

Most important changes would be to set the enemy weapons ID to match the newest modified data.dta archive.

I will also look again into the enemy patrols and snipers settings in this mission.

So far you have a whole campaign (Italy) modified by me and ready to play thup01 .

I will return, when i make some changes.

I thought the patrols walk among the trees, not in the path of any vehicle.

I just finished the editing of Yugoslavia 1 mission. :grin:

I optimized enemy patrols, snipers and MG nests.

Now they use proper weapon that will match the current data.dta archive version. thup01

Don't get me wrong: i want to help you to change stock H&D Deluxe missions, but we need to set certain rules, otherwise this project would be a total H&D Deluxe overhaul - just like my add-ons - which you don't like too much. Making the modified missions too complex makes a higher probability that something goes wrong - believe me. Simpler is always better.

Yes, indeed - the SAS commandos from the pre-mission cutscene are wearing red berets. However, the actual uniform textures used for SAS commandos in Yugoslavia 1 are better in my opinion (you could easier "melt in the background").


Yugoslavia 2

Meantime i edited the enemies weapons IDs to match the newest data.dta archive in the Yugoslavia 2 mission.

If you want, you could already test it. I have no ideas for any other changes in this mission that could be implemented, except those that i made earlier.

Any feedback will be appreciated!

I edited the Yugoslavia 3 mission. :grin:

I optimized the objects collision, so now it would be possible to shot through metal fence that surrounds the lock. It thought, that it will be more realistic this way, since the AI and the player could spot each other through the fence. The other changes were introduced by me earlier - like few new enemy patrols in the area.

If you have proposals for any additional changes to Yugoslavia 3 mission feel free to post them. This mission offers bigger "flexibility" for modding, because the map is quite big.

Any feedback will be appreciated!
