Game Speed Issue

Unread post by shadow0fadoubt » Thu Feb 28, 2008 1:40 am

Just dug out my copy of Sabre Squadron and installed it on my computer but the game runs at double speed in-mission. Even the sounds are sped up. Oddly enough though the subtitles seem to have trouble keeping up.
Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Relevant Specs
Windows XP SP2
AMD 64 X2 3800+
Geforce 7600
1 gb DDR2 RAM

What are your PC specs kenjos?

It could be the graphics card or cpu interfering with the frames per second cap, you can turn on Vertical Synchronization on via the setup.exe - see if that works

also try this FPS limiter - http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.ph ... stcount=60

Is it in singleplayer? I´ve heard that some ppl have slowdowns in SP and a way to act normal again was to jump at an internetserver for short and than switch to an SP game

Having the same speed issue as mentioned.
just ran through the tutorial mission and noticed that the sound files for
the sas instructors that have more than one line of dialogue overlap, and
that they are faster than their subtitles.
the countdown timer shown for planted explosives counts down at least
twice as fast as normal time (22 sec timer takes less than 10 secs
to finish).
driving the standard jeep is like being behind the wheel of a lamborghini...
patroling guards move rather quicking from one end of their posts to the
other as if they have "fire ants in their pants".
sneak mode is like moving in at least normal mode, and standard running
is like watching the road runner on speed.
did try the mentioned suggestions by Jason, but noticed no difference.
tried several different changes in the setup.exe, and the only one that
seemed to make a very slight difference in the speed issue was disabling
the sound. if I figure out how to resolve the problem, I will post it here.

UPDATE: problem resolved. after countless hours of internet research, I went to AMD's website and downloaded the "AMD Dual-Core Optimizer Version 1.1.4" and installed it. presto, the game runs as it should.
anyways, thanks for the suggestions, and I hope this msg helps anyone else with the same problem.

I'm having this issue but don't have an AMD, is there an Intel alternative? I'm also in Windows 7 which has no boot.ini

Completed the first campaign too quickly because of this issue.

EDIT: Resolved it by setting CPU affinity to 1 core while running the game; only problem is I have to do it each time I want to play.

As far as I remember this problem cropped up for me about three years after the 1.12 patch. I'm on an Intel system as well. This only happens to me in single player and only sometimes. What version of the game are you on?

1.12

I can live with the Affinity setting.
