Situation...uninstalled hd2 hd2ss ...went to reinstall from my cd's.. cd key lost..found working cd key on internet..reinstalled hd2 hd2ss... dl'd 1.12 patch from this site and installed...fired up the game...now it gets interesting..game says I'm patched to only 1.11..also game says i have a profile but when i go to find the folder.. its not there??...so then I fire up regedit to have a look... the game is NOT listed in the registry either???

I patched to 1.12..but game says 1.11

Game is not visible in the registry... but game is installed and playable on pc

Bad cd key?...I'm out of ideas

OK, after further research...I found game in registry folder named Wow6432node.. strange name..(i knew game had to be in registry somewhere)... I ran game as administrator and profile folder magically appeared...however, I still have patch issues..game says HD2 is patched to 1.12 but HD2SS is patched to 1.11...continuing search for answers

Wow6432node is not strange name, if the machine is 64bit then this game is in registry under Wow6432node (and other 32-bit applications).

I have 32bit Win and i never had this problem, maybe patch cannot read install dir. from Wow6432node...
But where the patch extracted new exe files ?

Is there "idir" in the registry entry ?
idir=install directory

Its something like that:

Value name: idir
Value data: C:\Hidden&Dangerous2\

Thanks for reply Stern..I'm a novice about inner workings of registry..yes I have a 64bit pc ...and yes i have idir registry entry C:\Hidden&Dangerous2\ ..also there are 2 registry entry's... version 1.12.0000 and version_spec 1.07.0000..I extracted HD2SS 1.12 patch to HD2 folder

I have same:

version 1.12.0000
version_spec 1.07.0000

If you uninstall 1.12 and re-install it?

I guess this means that the SS exe file(HD2_SabreSquadron.exe) is not patched version.

I did try to donload it from there and its the same one as in my game folder (MD5 checksums are identical: 6E62059C716CED00F116BEC0211D1280).

You are right Stern...my SS exe v1.12 file(HD2_SabreSquadron.exe) is not patched version.. checksum (MD5-32F997DF3D4505CA15DD8F404E28FA89)

Game will not let me uninstall old patch by itself...I have to uninstall and reinstall whole game...no time now for day or two
I'll let you know what happens...also have more questions later if you don't mind
