H&D2 SS LAN Multiplayer Co-op Game

Hello All,
Having problems playing LAN games specifically with connecting one computer with the computer that has hosted.
I can create a co-op game perfectly fine and it all runs smoothly, however when other computers try to join the game they can see it in the list but when they try to join they cant.
It is stuck on the "Connecting client..." "Connecting to server..." it just doesnt get any further.
I have allowed the program access via mcafee. The firewalls are turned off completely on both computers. The program permissions have been allowed full access. The program has been set as Run As Compatibility Mode in Windows 2000.
I am using a private 3Com router(but isnt connected to the internet...dont know if this is a problem!), when pinging the router both computers can see it and 100% packet rate, the ping is extremely low as both computers are connected via hard wire. When pinging eachother both computers have a 100% packet rate and the ms is around 2ms.
One of the computers is running Windows 7 while the other is running Windows Vista.
I am running version 1.12.0 and I have also opened the ports 11001-11003.
I dont know exactly what else to do or think of, and your replies are much apprectiated as I really would like to play this game again over a LAN as it is so brilliant.
Many Thanks
Alex
