Guy In Cottage

Hello all! I loved H&D, played through many times. Just heard of H&D2 and got it from e-Bay. Loaded it, been playing for a few hours and I cannot seem to get the prisoner in the cottage to follow me back to the docks. I'm in Lone Wolf mode. Any ideas? Am I missing something more obvious than I'd like to think? If I right click the mouse, there's no option for him to follow. If I leave hoping he'll show up at the docks, He sits in the cottage until he is killed. Kinda frustrating!
