I have run H&D2 on XP Home for several years now. I have a new PC which is Vista Home Premium. The software loads without any indicated error - but it will not run. The DVD drive starts up but then stops. Nothing happens (no Gathering/Illusion screens etc.).
Any ideas?

Have you tried running in compatibility mode? Maybe even safe mode? I think compatibility mode will do it though...

I'm having the same problem. What file do I need to run in compatibility mode, and what settings do I need to set?

Right click on the shortcut, and then hit properties. Then click on the compatibility tab, and then click the box and set the OS you want to run in compatibility mode for.

The shortcut on the desktop doesn't have a compatiblity tab. Is there another shortcut I don't know about? 
I tried the setup in the HD2 folder but that didn't do anything....

Yes the .exe does have a compatibility tab. I've tried to run that in compatibility mode, Windows XP, but that didn't do a thing. I'm not sure if I need to mess around with the other options below the compatibility mode for the game to work or not.
