sounds plausible... the game itself froze when I got to that level...

...Although, cold snow is light and fluffy. Warm, wet snow is heavier and more packed down.

Isn't warm snow just water?

From my experience in knee high snow, I was wondering why I was able to walk on top of the snow, without sinking in at all, especially while carrying 25 kg of supplies. I understand that this is likely due to system limitations a decade ago, but I can imagine the potential of this with today's systems: things like skis or snowshoes as inventory objects to make movement easier.
Lol, yeah definitely due to the technical / development time constraints. But that would take it to a whole new level, maybe too far? maybe not.

It would depend how it is used. It should be used like the aqua lung, where it is not necessary for traveling in snow, but it would make it a lot easier.

I often end up accidentally killing them. The only times I actually did succeed in shooting their weapons out of their hands, it was a fluke.

Ah yes, make the advanced mechanics incentive based then, cant be too punishing though, otherwise you get whiners and multiple playthroughs can be a grind when things are overly involved.

It could be simple, like you cant run as fast and your endurance drops faster if you are in deep snow. Perhaps even a "Realism" menu to select whether you will be affected by the elements. There could also be a soldier stat that improves how you can perform in different elements.

The instructions of the first mission of the final campaign made ZERO sense.
