Editing soldier stats
Editing soldier stats
Is there a tutorial available that explains how to edit the soldier stats in .sav games?
Most of the available soldiers have stats that consist of either weak carry capacities, stealth, or health, and I find myself using the same squad based characters each time I start a new campaign. also, I would like to be able to transfer the soldier stats from a completed campaign save(CAM_0023.sav) to a new campaign save(CAM_0000.sav).
This sounds similar to the "SuperTroopers" mod by MajorDisaster but w/out the uber stats.
any help is appreciated.
update.......figured out how to edit the soldiers stats on my own :)
here's an example layout of 2 soldier stats from my modified cam_0000.sav, with the details broken down into sections.....

Re: Editing soldier stats
I am impressed and... relieved, that you figured it out by yourself. It shows that not everyone still playing HD2 needs someone on some remote desktop application to do things. Though, I am disappointed at more secrets being revealed.

A1 work Kyle and to echo..Thanks for sharing!
I myself was just thinking how to go about editing them using Maj Disaster's work as a rough guide but it turns out you've done it first and saved me the trouble.
But I'm sure the day of ultimate disappointment for Vitamin will come when the technique to get the Cap Comforter (headgear worn by the jump-master in Arctic 1 Mission) will be made available for SP MP inventories

Re: Editing soldier stats
thanks for all the kind responses
I can't take credit for all the work because as Capt. Stirling pointed out I used Maj Disaster's work as a guideline....
there are a few things I haven't deciphered yet...
for instance, all of the modified soldier stats in Maj Disaster's cam_000.sav show up properly in the roster and inventory menus prior to the first mission. this includes the first 4 selectable soldiers (Lauer, Smithy, Czakowski, and Bennett) that are listed as the current active soldiers in the roster menu after the training mission in his save game. when I created my own cam_000.sav that consisted of (Burton, Wingate, Harris, and Wright) as the active soldiers in the roster menu after the training mission, all of the stats of the soldiers I modified would show up properly in the roster and inventory menus prior to the first mission, with the exception of these 4 active soldiers.
their modified stats would show up properly in the roster menu, but in the inventory menu their original game stats would show up.....it wasn't until the actual start of the first mission that the modified stats took place.
also, if you modify the soldier stats in a *.*_quick.sav, the changes won't show up
I hope this makes sense.

Re: Editing soldier stats
Yes it does make sense Kyle.
So the question is what file houses the original stats compositions... In discovering the problem you've encountered, I'm searching for that currently.

Hmm... You should already know where the original stats are... I am sure I have told you before...

I know how to mod sounds, skins, menus and text, scene2 files with the various editors, films and that's about it. If you did tell me before, perhaps a reminder?

Alright, I've been trying to play with the stats but i can't find the original file that will dictate the soldier skills throughout the game. Anyone know??

Maybe it's the humanstore.def file in the tables folder

Re: Editing soldier stats
Much appreciated! That did the trick. Edit with the hex editor and different values and overwrite the originals in the tables folder. Now I can create new soldiers and backgrounds from scratch!! My mod should come along nicely now. Great work on cracking those 3D models. I've been following that thread wondering if the current No. 4 Lee Enfield in game can be edited to an SMLE. Not to digress however, thanks hdmaster.
Apparently I missed unpacking the tables folder in the Other files. Was always working on sounds, skins and other content. Haven't had this much fun since I first unpacked the original H&D music files using Dragon unpacker!!

Re: Editing soldier stats
I'd actually like to see both in game. Personally I feel they should have used the SMLE instead of the '03 Springfield. The Springfield optics model should have been a P14 with scope too.
