Based on what I know (which could be wrong) H&D2 has no realtime calculated shadows. Instead, shadows are "painted" directly on textures used (think about the palm shadow below the tiger tank).

So, probably the authors had in mind a certain light direction, when they made the Station map. And they realized textures ad hoc for that direction. They made one side of the locomotive bright and one side darker. That's because brightness of a texture is not calculated in real time when playing. It's fixed, and must be conceived before.

I think this concept is true for fixed/scenographic objects. I don't know how actors work (i.e. those vehicles you can use).

I checked it on the Czech1 map, but that machine has same bright sides, no darker or lighter as I saw.

Did you find this problem with other models too, hdmaster?

To check, you should also retrieve the textures (.BMP) used by the locomotive, and compare them using a graphic software. You'll know immediately if they are different in brightness.

Hi!
I am a newbiee here. But I may have some idea to the topic. I am a selflearn in modelling (Maya). The lightning problem could be caused by wrong vertex normals of the model. The 4ds export process may changed/damaged the vertex normal's values.

This is the locomotive (la_lokoM.4ds) set to the same place twice with DCED. Both approximately perpendicular to the direction from which the sun shines.
On the shadow side, both locomotives are darker. Maybe it's a problem with the lighting sector, and the exported model switches light side and dark side.

Fixed the problem.
The signs of all x-coordinates must be swapped.

Improved import for scene.4ds

OMG! It is more than beautiful, hdmaster!

Africa: what is that mesh on the well?
Sicily: the hill on he background is very strange (upper right corner of the pic) + the roof of the houses on the left side. (seems like a shadow on the wall below the roof + a strange mesh on the rooftop)

Do you have any idea about the lightmaps? Maybe the HDDeluxe's editor can help in that. (I hope)

Thanks!
@Marvin
which mesh do  you mean on africa?
The hill appears so dark because of the light. When you change the viewing angle everythings alright.
The mesh in the roof is just an occluder. I dont know yet why the areas beneath the roofs are black

@ikoros
Soon, but i can give you the sources if you want them now

i could make a model viewer for 3ds or obj files.
if HaDmaster can describe me the Script then i could program a exporter with model viewer.

In Africa3 there is something odd with the fountain. Probably just an alpha channel not properly set. ;)

Africa:
strange brush on the well (maybe that is a trigger or clipping brush with a stone texture)

Sicily:
Meanwhile I checked it in the game and its ok, sorry for the false alarm. On the pic it seems that the grass is in the air at the top-right corner of the pic

Somebody knows how to edit and add new vehicle checkpoints? I was able to move a CP to another position but that was a bit lucky..
Mabye it's already possible with RevEngEd Editor?

Also I got problems with the map.4ds where I need to change a black axis spawn into a blue allied spawn (Ok not soo important but it'd look much better)

Thanks

Hi.

RevEngEd is able to handle only occupation missions, not co-op. So, about checkpoints, I'm afraid I must say that no: RevEngEd can't handle CP.

About the area of the respawn, instead, it could make something. Send me the map.4ds and tell me exactly what you want, so I'll have a look at it.

Hi,
2 bad you should make one for coop maps.. easy said i know

As you see on the picture the north spawn is black and for axis. If you could turn it into an allied blue spawn that'd be awesome.
And there is a objective list (red flag) (up to 3/4 objectives i guess)
If you accomplished an objective (here e.g. "aqcuire the docs" the red flag turns into an blue cross.
Maybe it's possible to remove all that too?

map.4ds - 7.9 Kb
