and why in version 2.1 Textures are not displayed?

Why import model displays a grid and the model and there is no texture

You may wonder why there are no updates yet.

A few posts earlier I posted that I moved the whole thing from MAXScript to C# and so I did. It turned out however, that a few essentially functions are unaccessible using the C# SDK. But when I realized this most of the work was almost done. The only work around is to rewrite everything in C++, using the official but very annoying 3ds Max API. I'm currently rewriting a few plugins in c++ for 3ds Max 2013, the 4ds Import has a stupid bug I need to fix. After that I'll release this one for testing. It's definetly better than the MAXScript version and also works for Mafia, Chameleon and of course H&D2 .4ds files. All other plugins (scene2.bin, tree.klz) will follow as soon as possible.

Besides I've written an univeral .DTA unpacker supporting Mafia, H&D2 (inc Sabre) and Chameleon. Requires .NET Framework 4.0. Download here: http://www.rprclan.com/index.php/had-2/ ... a-unpacker

I don't know why the textures are not loaded. To be honest I haven't had a look on my MAXScript things for months.

Wow, sounds you have been doing some amazing work hdmaster! great to hear.

Awesome to hear that it will work for the other games as well. The unpacker is great, now we can get into Chameleon's stuff grin01 still trying to track down where I can buy a bunch of copies of Chameleon, anyone from Poland know?

Yes it works only for 2013, because that's the only version of 3ds Max I have currently installed with the SDK. But I'll recompile it for other versions later. What version are you using?

i am 3D artist using 3ds max and one of the biggest fans of HD2 (since 2005)
im using 3ds 2012 but i have no problem converting to 2013

So here's the import plugin compiled for 3ds Max 2013 x64. I have cut off some features, that will be available later, because it recently crashed very often. So use the plugin at your own risk :mrgreen: . Also it does not search for the materials/maps in any folder so they won't show up in the viewport, but as soon as you render you'll get a message saying that some files are missing. Just add your path(s) to the maps folder(s) there (it will let you search for directories) and you'll see the textured meshes in the rendered image. Importing can sometimes take up to 30 secs for big files like Africa5, but I'll try to make it faster grin01

To install the plugin copy the file into "3ds Max 2013\plugins\" folder and restart 3ds Max. You should be able then to select .4ds files in the default file import dialog of 3ds max.
