Multiplayer basics

This is for general discussion about Hidden & Dangerous 2, talk about what you liked or what you didn't like about the sequel. Talk about multiplayer games, setup matches etc.

Hi,

this may've been already covered but here goes with some multiplayer questions.

What does ping mean - I got chucked off a map for high ping.
what do the symbols mean next to the servers list - I worked out that the padlock must mean locked for just the people playing but what are the others?

Any help would be appreciated.

J.

Well, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ping
You were kikked becuz your "round trip" time was to high...
This is the number you see next to your name on the scoreboard...
This is in miliseconds...

And the symbols, I have no clue about...
I never really bothered to look, I allways host my own server...
At 1024x768 they look like the male and female ends of a usb cable...
But that really means nuthing else to me...

I get it. I was getting connection error messages beforehand so obviously my ping was increasing over the authorised level & I got kicked out.

One symbol looks like a microphone - do you think this is showing this capability between users? Does H&D multiplayer have this function?

The symbols are:
microphone - when ingame voice is active
padlock - if the server use an password
networkcable - if the server is a dedicated one
