Man, I've been airsofting on and off for a couple of years now in the uk, since before I started visiting these forums thats for certain.
Nice pics of the ww2 stuff, I'd love to be able to afford to get into that as well as support the more modern day side of the hobby. Just seems that waiting for a decent spring k98/lee enfield/springfield or a reliable mp40 (one where the bellows dont die after what seems 10 rounds) is asking a little too much. I went to the War and Peace festival in Beltring this year, got some great pics of the re-enactors (well before the battery died on the camera!)

The problem is that every one does a US paratrooper look, with the TM Thompson, personally I'd be more likely to convert it into a Pulse rifle from aliens.

Heres a pic of me at (half event known as) Distant Thunder 06...

Also of the top of my head, I think the Smokeys and Marushin m1 garand are both 8mm.

This thread really got me out of couch potato mode....
I bought an airsoft MP40 a week ago - got it yesterday, full metal, very nice feel and touch.
Just won the bid on ebay for an M35 steel helmet, both decals intact. It doesn't say whether it's repro or original but that doesn't really make any difference to me - if it's a repro I'll use it for reenacting, if it's genuine it'll look really cool on my desk

After that I'm going for the Fallschirmjager uniform - there's a package deal at 200$ for jacket and trousers.

My girlfriend thinks I'm an idiot - but seeing those pics by Lardassmonkey and others...well to me it looks like the most fun you can have with your pants on.

H&D in real life...thup01

The M35 wont go with the FallschirmJager uniform... You need the M38 Fallschirmjager helmet ...
Eight, 8, the burning eight; between Sunday and Monday exists a day so great, it will devastate.

Yes, I know - what I meant was that if the m35 is repro i'll go with that and probably wehrmacht unteroffizier uniform to match the mp40 - if the m35 is original i'll go with the fallschirmjager...and of course the m38.

Welcome to the club Magnet, prepare to see all your money disappear . I take it the MP40 you bought is a AGM one not a dodgy TOP one? Where are you looking to buy your kit from? Where are you planning to play? Your profile says you're in Denmark, are there many sites there?

I'm sticking with my G33/40 for now as everyone seems to have a MP40 now. I think I'll wait and see if anything else appears and if not try and make a custom G43. I still haven't got my uniform sorted out but that doesn't matter for now as I'm going to the next game (Arnhem one) as Dutch resisitance. I have at least got a side arm now- bought a P38 at Christmas. I just need to get down the charity shops to find my civilian clothes.

Da fish; I thought you would be the same one, I keep running into airsofters in games/games forums.  funny02

I've not heard about airsoft before... but I am really impressed by the effort you guys put in, the uniforms and everything look superb...

So you know a little about me, I've worked as a paintball marshall for a while, and just scored a little job working with laser guns... think quasar, but outdoors, in fields, with overalls etc, etc... The weapons we use are quite cool though as you can program how they behave (number of lives you have, rate of fire, time it takes to reload, clip size) etc..

Just thought I would ask you guys if you know any cool game modes that I could suggest to my boss to impress her? :) unlike paintball we can play laser games pretty much anywhere as there's no threat to the public..

Also, is airsoft more of a specialist sport where you have to buy your own equipment etc, or are there places (like paintball) where you can show up and get given the weapon, uniform etc for a day?

thanks

Whats that lazer game called as I think I know what you're talking about? I wouldn't mind giving it a go as it sounds like it could be fun. Not needing goggles would be a bonus but i think I'd still prefer to see where my shots are going.

Airsoft is mostly more of a bring your own game but thats mainly because all the players prefer their own look. Many sites have rentals for first timers. Usually costs about £40 for the day so generally cheaper than paintball ( you always need more paintballs which aren't cheap). Many don't have uniforms for rental but since theres no messy paint involved all you need is some old clothes (preferably green/brown) and eye protection will be provided.  With your own stuff its normally about £15 a day. If you're in the UK I can find you a map if you want to find your nearest site.

In terms of game ideas what sort of thing are you long for? Quick & simple or long & more tactical?

I'm not sure what it's called but I usually just say "laser games" or "laser tag" or some variation of that theme...

the weapons we use can be found here: http://www.battlefieldsports.com/weapons.htm

The lack of a projectile is a negative point... there's no visible laser beam even, so it's impossible to tell where you're being shot from, or do as I do in paintball which is to tell punters to shoot in a particular area to keep the enemies head down...

Prices are reasonable though imo, you should be able to play for about £20, but obviously don't have to pay for ammo... no pain, and kids can safely play...

The company I'll be working for will be aimed more at the corporate/team building side of things... so tactics is good, but remember most players will be new to the game... game modes that get people thinking about team work and gets people communicating are good...

at the moment we've got things like VIP escort, retrieve the nuclear tube (only the player with the gas mask can touch it though) etc..

Yeah I'm in the UK, London to be precise so if you could have a look for me I'd be grateful.. doubt I'll go anytime soon as having cash flow problems... but sounds like fun
