C++ coders needed

Unread post by Lars » Tue Feb 08, 2005 2:29 pm

Maybe some of you know that we have started with editing H&D2 a bit http://www.hidden-and-dangerous.net/php ... .php?t=189
.Well we used an hexeditor and an mafia editor and form the guys who developed the mafia editor we could get the source code to adapt it for H&D2. Well and exact here is it where we need your help. The hole code is written in C++ (something where we don?t have any clue on it ) and this is the point where we need your support. If you want an editor (and as I remember it wasn?t less who signed the petition) you know C++ and you have time for the development please contact us here. So we might have our own unoffical H&D2 editor and some new maps.

Hi!
Well we have the source code of this mafia editor .. and at first we will try to make this programm more stable. ATM it will crash when you will delete more than one thing at once. We also thought about adding an symbol 2d display (xy and xz view) to know a bit more where the modells are placed over an map. We have some ppl who said that they will code it and we only have to say what we want... but like always they left so fast as the appeared :roll: So if you want to have an look at the source pm me and i?ll send you the download infos. Than you could take a look at it if the source code is not to complex (I still have no clue about it :lol: )

Also note (I have the sources) that in addition to a C++ compiler you will need a QT package. QT is a library to ' draw' buttons and such. Those buttons will then be converted into C++ code to be used in the project.

I have not yet found (or looked :D ) for a QT library yet, but I believe there are some free ones out there.

Edit: I can now compile the source code, but the editor does not run. It has most likely to do with the QT version I am using. Perhaps it would be easier to start a new editor from scratch (using the source code to understand the file formats)....

Qt can be found at http://www.trolltech.com ...

There is a GPL'ed version since version 4.x.

Yeah and what is it supposed be coded in that slow crap called .NET, or that shit XNA, or how bout I take it one better, DarkBASIC, LoLoLoLoLoL, C++ is actually quit modern, because although it's first release was in 1983, its had a ton of upgrades since then, hell Windows = Windows v6.0 was written in C++)

Hey guys if you could drop me the source of editor it would help me reverse engineer the .DTA, .4DS, .5DS and the .I3D file formats.

(Man you should of said that you have a basically working editor's source earilier, it would REALLY, REALLY, REAAALLLY, help the document the file formats used by LS3D, perhaps we could even make an OpenLS3D Open-Source (free to download and moddify) Clone like OpenMOHAA.)
Watch my personal text, it reveals how many days or how many kilobytes of code may pass before I'm seen on the forum and what I'm doing on those days; It's being as Zoolander would say "InFourMaTave in a small small way".

I was saying that Dexio and Bollek's unpacker looks like a rip of Jovan's work, using tmp.dll, unless thats a new way to distribute MSVC++ applications without the MSVC++ runtime, maybe, but hmm, still looks sus to me.

I cannot promise anything from the source because I suck as an C++ programmer because it is too symbolic for me, thats why I stick close to the classics such as PASCAL, BASIC and the old 8086 Assembly Language, and Lars if you want to try to be able to atleast read some of the C++ source, I recommend you start with PASCAL, work up to Delphi, then to C and then C++.

Oh, well, thanks anyway, I will try to do the best I can for now, and see where that takes me.

P.S. I would like to thank both Jason and Lars for the help and support :)
And if there were more hack-programmers interested in H&D2 most of these issues would have been solved YEARS AND YEARS AGO, hell it took me a week to work out about 75% of the ITEMS.SAV file format.
