I managed to change the default weapon, that one of the soldiers from the first mission in Italian campaign carried. I replaced Kar 98 sniper rifle with MP40. I tested it in the HDD Editor (game mode) and it works. I done this by editing the scene inventory - adding ammo and changing the weapon id. ...

Where on your computer was Hidden and Dangerous saved? If the game was installed in "C:\Program Files" or "C:\Program Files (x86)" then your computer may not allow you to make the changes you want. Hi,

i tried to edit the first mission from the Italian campaign using HDD Editor, but i wasn't able to save the changes that i have made.

The program asked me to save on exit and i done it, but when i loaded the mission nothing changed.

How i could fix that?

I also replaced the Colt 1911 pistol with the Parabellum P'08 pistol to add more realism to the gameplay.

Now German officers use german pistols instead of american.

I attached one image, to show how it looks like in the game.

Meantime i managed to replace the Johnson M41 rifle that the Russian soldiers used i.e in Prague mission to the PPS 41 Spagin submachine gun

Now it is more realistic and historically accurate.

Did you keep a backup of your old maps.dta file? If you did than I would probably suggest reverting to that one and starting over, reading the instructions carefully.
