Re: 4ds files hacked
I think you are a bit off topic. Here we were discussing about .4ds and max, not the .dta from Sabre :)
I suggest to start a new topic for it.
By the way, could you get some scene2.bin or actors.bin file from sabre?

Re: 4ds files hacked
More experiments I moved an external wall of the Train Station along X, as you can see in this picture: Now I can pass through the moved wall AND I can pass through where the wall was . It seems to me ...

Re: 4ds files hacked
I made some experiments: Africa3 MP with only tree.klz from Czech 2: you fall into the void, everytime. Africa3 MP with only scene.4ds from Czech 2: you fall into the void, everytime, and all around there is the Villa and not the Mosque. Africa3 MP with only tree.klz from Africa 3 Obj: you fall into...

New occupation maps - New site
Hi all. I started creating the new site, where occupation maps, occupation editor and file guides will be gathered. By now, it's active only the "New Maps" section, with a bunch of new maps ready for download! There are still no instructions on how to install them, but I think this won't a problem f...

Re: 4ds files hacked
Here's some code snippets, beside I don't think they're much of use: Drawing of triangles: if(mf.map4ds.useY){ highCoord = 1; alaxYZoffset = ps.alaxYoffset; }else{ highCoord = 2; alaxYZoffset = ps.alaxZoffset; ...

Re: 4ds files hacked
@HDMaster: You and I took different paths. You (I think) are more into a general purpose undestanding of the files. I tried to be more pragmatic and lead all effort in undestanding how to get things working, especially for occupation maps. In my case, I started from Normandy2/map.4ds and I adapt tha...

Re: 4ds files hacked
Makes a child of . Resets the current location of to the location of unless move:false is specified. Yeah, I found that quote, and I asked my question after reading it. Here only location is named, not rotation. So I was wondering if attachObject only move node2 in a position relative to node1. Wha...

Re: 4ds files hacked
Ah, sorry! I didn't notice that line. It's the first time I read/use maxscript.
I'm back to work, then..
Er.. do you know what exactly "attachObject" does?
Inversion of axis (X for Y and viceversa) reminds me of ROTATIONS..

Re: 4ds files hacked
Seems to work. I changed 2nd byte of 1st axis area (axis1) from 19 to 7 (zone4, northmost zone). Here are the results (before and after): http://malgolan.altervista.org/_ext/Minaret...

Re: 4ds files hacked
Maybe I understood how relative positions works. Here are the first evidence: "Mesh index" refers to the order of meshes inside file (map.4ds from Normandy2, in this example). "Mesh label" is the string present in eve...

Re: Occupation Editor for H&D2 done!
Will this be an open source project? Ar.. that's a difficoult question. I fear that an open source project will lead to many different incomplete and incompatible versions of the editor. Moreover, I programmed it as my knowledge of files improved, often by experimenting or writing code just for ins...

Re: 4ds files hacked
I noticed (as you said) some misplaced meshes. Especially in Africa3_MP, it's plenty of them! http://malgolan.altervista.org/Africa3_misplaced.jpg The northwest tower is too much southward, almost over the west-gate. Stairways are floating. And many others... By reading your hd2_4ds.ms script...

Re: Occupation Editor for H&D2 done!
First map for you: Africa 3 Occupation (aka Minaret v.E). I've just registered a new website for the project. It will contains editor and maps downloads, among with tutorials and manuals (it will require time). Bye now, you can download a map: http://malgolan.altervista.org/Minareto_v.E.rar We use t...

Scene2.bin
Scene2.bin should contains several objects. By experiments, they should be SOLID mesh (polygons, textures and COLLISIONS). Did someone succed in inserting new solid object inside an existing scene2.bin? I can only add objects that become ghosts in-game: you can see them but you can walk throgh them..
