Re: What is wrong with the existing Hidden and Dangerous technolgy??
Nothing can be done from C\C++ level, if there is no released source code from the developers to make the patch from and fix problems with the actual game code, but no doubt an editor for H&D 2 could be built, but it would take a long time because all the old Infinity3D model and animation formats (...

What is wrong with the existing Hidden and Dangerous technolgy??
1. Both H&D and H&D2 are *Windows Only* 32-bit executables, which means they don't always run under Vista and probably won't at all under future versions of Microsoft's Operating Systems. 2. H&D uses an old network interface, probably a primitive version of DirectPlay, if it had of been WinSock 1.1 ...

Re: why are we waaaaaaaaaatin
I've always wanted to do away with the LS3D engine, because of encripted archive formats and other bad practices targeted towards the modding and general community, hense why I'm working a bit harder on GEO than I was.
Actually I might even send a PM to Jason about the technicallities RIGHT NOW!

Re: I want H&D3 announced in 2009
So you guys have seen the H&D3 trailer on YouTube? Man, I can't wait, really I need to go at the speed of light arround the earth's circumfrence for 2000 milliseconds right now! (Theoretical time travel - Theoretical.) I hope they, oneday, not in the NEAR future, but in a future where H&D and H&D2 a...

Re: OpenH&D or Hidden & Dangerous III
My thoughts are maybe if we keep calling someone might answer, and C++, thats over rated, C programmers are all we need, I can migrate them to C++ if need be. Windows 2000 took up over 1 billion lines of code, all written in C, with it's boot loader and CRT written in an C\Assembly mix, OpenGL, Linu...

Re: OpenH&D or Hidden & Dangerous III
Me an project leader, no way, I never been in such an position because I'm no good at telling people what to do. And as for being an member of such an team, I would have an few requirements such as an daily-active IRC server specifically for the OpenH&D dev team. I love H&D and H&D2, but we do want ...

OpenH&D or Hidden & Dangerous III
Hi guys, I know it's been ages since I posted here last, but more to the point, there are plenty of reincarnations of classics like PACMAN and TETRIS, more recently, DooM, Quake and MoHAA, why shouldn't H&DII be put on the list? All H&D-ers complain about how close H&D and H&D2 is/was to the perfect...

Re: Hidden and Dangerous 2 .DTA file format infomation updates
Well I have Sabre Squadron now, but it's no good, I haven't looked into H&D2 DTA files for about 4/6 months now. What was really demoralizing though, is I looked through all of the DTA's searching for hints to the rest of the keys, I tried to calculate an chiper to the keys using common values withi...

Re: Death to Spies - a H & D wannabe
You would of loved where I am, about 4-5 years ago, they had H&D2 posters comming off the ceiling of our local Harvey Norman shop when H&D2 came out. Back then I didn't know how good H&D was, and looked at H&D2 but got MoHAA: Breakthrough instead, geez, I remember seeing an H&D2 + SS pack only 3 yea...

Re: The Royal Marines Commando
Actually, you should try PASCAL or Delphi as Borland likes to say, it's pretty much C in English, then move up to C, I doing basic C, but anything too complex like to many references to pointered-objects (a->name = 0;) and it makes my eyes go funny, really it does. C++ is really only for advanced C ...

Re: The Quality of Computer Games Today
Well as an Network Technician, Vista is beautiful, all those security features, admitantly, the 32-bit Device Driver incompatibility sucks there, but the security features definitly take the cake. As an gamer, I hate Vista, the graphics eat too much Real Memory (actual RAM not Virtually Paged, heheh...

Game Engines and Game Editors
Actually, even I reqard the Game Editor as an external part and not part of the Game Engine, this seems to also become the case since, id Software made gRadiant the official unsupported editor of the id Tech-engine series. The Game Engine is more the framework for which the Game and Game Editor are ...

Re: The Quality of Computer Games Today
Oh, how much I love my Pista, and an DirectX paletted mode doesn't even work properly in Windows7 which is supposed to be the fixer of all fixer OSes for Pista. Hahahahaha, look at Medal of Honor: Airgorne (as yes, when we played it all the Air about MoHA simply went, due to our shock and awe of how...

Game Engine Dreaming
I thought, since I started bickering about how LS3D is so awkward to work with I thought I'd write up what I think an Game Engine should really have. - Fast code, so it can run on an variety of old machines (how many people hate upgrading just to buy an PC game.) - Pixel-quality texture renderin...

Re: The Royal Marines Commando
Man, I must dream about H&D3 everytime I see H&D somewhere, even here, or look at an .DTA file. But seeing your already in the IT world, and I'm just entering, maybe we could make our own H&D3, like not using the existing H&D technolgies but something we write ourselves. I know I tried to make OpenL...
