Back with H&D2 after 14 years

I was never very active on this forum, thus, I don't expect anyone to remember me. That's fine, tho, because I can recall this place and the interesting, helpful posts. On a whim 2 weeks ago I found myself playing Vietcong and H&D2. Mainly for nostalgia. I'm so glad I did. Such fantastic memories an...

SS surrendering enemies

I'm coming to the end of my first run thru os SS and so far have not noticed a single surrendering Nazi or Italian. Which men, from which mission are likely to surrender?

Re: Sabre Squadron C3M2 Ponte Grande

I just finished this mission last night. For anyone 'giving it another go' or coming to the game for the first time (I'm sure people are still discovering this games excellence) I noticed something that might help. On dealing with the Italians who blow the bridge with the plunger: I noticed during s...

Medi packs

Well I must be on hard now since I get 3 save slots. Is the next one V. Hard? That must be the one with zero saves. Actually, is there all that much difference between the two highest difficultyy settings in terms of enemy AI, accuracy, etc? TBH I'm findiing Hard a good enough challenge as it is.

Medi packs

I really suggest playing the game in hard mode. Yeah, is that the one where you get zero save slots? That would be a real commitment on my time but, onve I'm through with SS on the difficulty below that one, I'll have a break from the game then return to play through both campaigns on the next sett...

Medi packs

I'm assuming that there are still people out there playing (and enjoying) the campaign. Personally I am. Anyway, I was aware that a few gamers liked to restrict themselves to only one member of their squad caryying medi packs, whether for more realism, challenge, whatever. What I'm doing this time t...

In defence of MINES
Err, you say you should expect a mine in a corridor? Ok, was unaware that it was realistic for mines to be buried in stone... Mines are not fun, not fair, obnoxious, and hugely buggy. But aside from that, they're great.
OK, first of all, Drozdov, the old 'reality' argument...

In defence of MINES

Hi all. What is all this fuss surrounding the use of mines with the on-line community? I think this matter deserves some discussion because it seems to me to be more than just a matter of taste. There is real, vocal opposition to their use and I see an increasing number of (particularly Deathmatch) ...
