The Saboteur

Unread post by Jason » Sat Jul 11, 2009 12:57 pm

Back many moons ago there was a game called Sabotage 1943, this turned into some game about a chick mainly for the console market and renamed to "Velvet Assassin". Now I have spotted something that looks like what I got excited about Sabotage 1943 for, it's called The Saboteur. It's being developed by Pandemic studios and released by EA games.

The game take place in Paris (about time!) it's an open world game (you know like GTA, Prototype, Mafia) and you get to sneak around, climb buildings and kill nazis, what more could you ask for! (apart from H&D3)

You can visit the website and see the trailer here: The Saboteur

You can watch an interview with some dev guys and watch some cool gameplay here:

and here

I will have to queue this one up after Death to Spies: Moment of Truth (coming out July 27th according to Amazon.com), should be good ey Lars grin01

The Saboteur looks rather tasty. I hadn't heard of it. Thanks for the info.

I hate the historically inaccurate.

The idea of the game is great, I love the 3rd person open world stuff. I love the linear stuff with regards to enemy assets. I am not however in love with the break in historical accuracy. I hate the B&W, I hate the airships, I hate the flamethrowers, I hate EA... etcetera. If I can find a demo I will play it, but I don't think one exists.

Now I am not on the other hand opposed to alternate time lines, as I loved the Crimson Skies stuff, but that is not the way the game designers are going with this. In the stage demo the guy clearly states they don't care.

Got a demo? I'll play it.

I have this game and I thought it was fun. Picked it up for $15. Was disappointed that it didn't take itself more seriously as it looks like WWII meets Sweeney Todd and Assassins Creed. Great concept and ideas though. Can't stand the main character though. A right arsehead.

"Ugh, Hit something didn't I", yes, arsehead indeed  I haven't beaten the game myself but I really like all the stuff that you can do except the main story. The country area is beautiful. It's a very odd game in terms of atmosphere but I like it. It seems to work well, despite all them bad french accents  Why do American game publishers have to hire bad American voice actors?
