The Cave of Miracles - a H&D Deluxe mission add-on

Hello everyone,

i would like to share with you my twentieth-sixth created mission add-on for Hidden and Dangerous Deluxe, it is called "The Cave of Miracles".

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Unpack all the rar archives into your H&D Deluxe data folder (i.e.: C:\Program Files\Take2\Hidden and Dangerous Deluxe\data) and replace data.dta with the new one. The mission add-on is a file with *.add extension. Start the game, choose play add-on and select "The Cave of Miracles" from the menu.

MISSION BRIEFING

Due to the constant allied bombing of German war industry some factories were forced to transfer undeground. Our objective is to eliminate one of such factories. We need to blow up all enemy planes and kill the factory supervisor in his office. Then we need to escape from the factory by the main entrance. The Germans are using Russian POWs as a workers, so watch out who are you aiming for. Good luck!

EDIT: I decided to replace some German soldiers with non-armed workers (Russian POWs).

As i wrote in the mission's description: "by the main entrance". The same way as in the stock Germany 3 mission.

Weird, I took my men back there, and nothing happened.

I then took them to where the locomotive, and nothing there too.

The Russian bots are idiots. I tell them to follow, and they run like beheaded chickens.

Well, i will check that - give me some time.

You need to fulfill the mission objectives in proper order, just as they are listed by numbers - if you don't, you won't complete the mission.

There is no objective to liberate the POWs from the factory.

I completed them in order; because I like being realistic.

I know it's not an objective, but maybe one of those Russians has a sister who would give me a nice "thank you" for saving her brother.

I set a "detector", that triggers the mission's end when the player completed all objectives and all survived team members are within its range.

It happens sometimes, that you are outside the detector range, so the mission could not be finished.

As i said, give me some time and i will check that.

Well, i tested this mission and i completed it successfully. First i blew up all planes, then i killed the factory supervisor in his office. I reached the escape point and mission was over. Maybe try to blow up also the train with cargo?

So that explains everything - i started to get worried.

Unfortunately, to fix this i should add the possibility to fulfill the mission objectives in random order. However, this could be complicated and if there are many objectives there would be many combinations to set.

The AI uses a "checkpoint grid" to move on the mission's map, sometimes they will use shortcuts...this could look stupid.

In general the AI in H&D Deluxe isn't very clever, lol.

Yeah, that explains why the Tiger chasing you in Germany 3 gets stuck in the trees instead of following the road like it's supposed to.
